Since the formation of IIM, Angul chapter in year 1992 ,it has played an active role in the Talcher-Angul industrial belt area serving the cause of industries around in vicinity and extending support for promotion of technology, sharing of knowledge, organizing international seminars and offering platform for technology discussion. In association with technical institute and schools, IIM angul has carried on activities like quiz, debates and seminars in its endeavor towards spread and advancement of metallurgy and science. It has since evolved into a forum of technical assistance/knowledge sharing amongst the working professionals/academicians/students and researchers. The membership is continuously on rise over the years and as on date, well over 237 covering Life member, Member, Associated Member and student Members are registered with this chapter.
